About Uncle Longbeard
Not as a brand. As a place.
I’m Mike.
And on one of the worst days of my life, my nephew told me something I’ll never forget.
“You’re not Uncle Mike.”“You’re Uncle Longbeard.”
And it hit me hard.
Not long after that, a few of my closest friends and I decided to build Uncle Longbeard.
Not as a brand.As a place.
A place where you’re welcome.
Whether life’s going great or life just punched you square in the mouth.
Because when things get real, most of us do one of two things:
We call Uncle Longbeard.Or we become Uncle Longbeard.
Let me back up.
Before any of this, my own life came apart.
Some of it fell apart the way you’d expect. Some of it was supposed to be the good kind — like my kids being born — and I still had no idea what I was doing.
Scared shitless, if I’m honest.
So I went looking. For something. For anybody who’d been where I was, talking straight to guys like me.
I never found much.
Two years of hell later, I decided I’d build something for men myself. Only problem was, I had no idea what.
Then, on one of the worst nights, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
And the concept was born.
What you’re looking at is a collaboration — a few of my closest friends and me.

Questions People Ask
- What is Uncle Longbeard?
- A place, not a brand. A spot for regular guys to tell the truth about hard times — grief, divorce, fatherhood, starting over — and the friends who keep showing up. Sometimes you call Uncle Longbeard. Sometimes you are him.
- Is Uncle Longbeard therapy or a mental health service?
- No. It is not therapy, coaching, or treatment, and nobody here pretends to have it all figured out. It is honest stories and real conversation between guys. If you are in crisis, please reach out to a professional or a crisis line.
- Who is it for?
- Any guy who has carried something heavy, and any guy who has helped somebody else carry it. You do not have to be in a dark place to pull up a seat.
- Can I share my story without my name on it?
- Yes. Stories go up anonymous by default — we shape it in your voice and keep your name off it. You can leave one any time on the Tell Your Story page.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Pull up a seat.
Glad you’re here.
