Staring Into the Foggy Abyss

2026-06-28

The feeling of the unknown, teetering on the brink. Everyone fears this point. Here's what I tell myself when the weight hits 100x.

Laying in bed watching TV, and they're talking about graduating college. That feeling like you're staring into the foggy abyss.

When I graduated I never got that "now what" feeling. And some of us opted not to go to college at all. But we all know the feeling.

When you get that email to call your boss, after he's been mysteriously in a meeting with the COO all morning. Or finding out your position has been eliminated. The "we need to talk" text.

The feeling of the unknown. Teetering on the brink of disaster. Whether it's financial, emotional, mental.

It's in this moment, often when we're alone, wrestling with demons so dark we don't think we'll ever see the light of day. The pressure is intense. The feeling of failure cuts through any false bravado, straight to the core.

Everyone fears this point. Myself included. We scramble for any shred of positivity, just a glimpse of hope. We can't seem to find the point of tomorrow. The weight of everything feels amplified 100x.

I can't speak for everyone. But me, I remind myself that I am one stubborn son of a bitch who's not afraid to go toe to toe with my demons, talking shit the whole time. I remind myself that my kids will always need me, and I will always need them. And that diamonds are formed under pressure. The bottom is great, because the only way to go is up.

It's also the perfect time to take the leap of faith and start that company you've dreamed of. Just know it'll be the hardest you've ever worked, and crazy as fuck, but worth it.

Just take a deep breath, grit your teeth. You got this shit.
